“Cellist Eric Wright, from North Pomfret, Vermont, is returning to town with his award winning Canadian group, The Fretless who will be performing at the Woodstock Town Hall Theater on Sunday, October 29th at 4PM. Playing with all the dynamics of a string quartet, with two fiddles, viola, and cello, their repertoire of original and traditional tunes has excited crowds and garnered rave reviews throughout Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
With their unique and startling medleys, The Fretless quickly gained high acclaim around the world. They take string music to another level, transforming fiddle tunes and folk melodies into intricate and beautiful high-energy arrangements. The quartet has released three award-winning albums. Their most recent, ‘Bird’s Nest’, received the 2017 JUNO Award for Instrumental Album of the Year.
“It isn’t often that you come across instrumental music that is so beautiful that each track feels like brushstrokes in a piece of artwork.” – Cherwell newspaper, Oxford University
The musicians include Karrnnel Sawitsky, Trent Freeman, Ben Plotnick, and Eric Wright. We hope you join us for an afternoon of inspiring music!”
